Japanese Vintage Kimono Sky Blue Obi Belt with Jumping Koi Carp Embroidery

blue belt 2

Beautiful sky blue vintage kimono fabric, taken from a 60s/70s unused kimono fabric bolt. The obi belt is embroidered with 3 jumping koi carps on the front. The belt is reinforced and interlined to keep its shape whilst being worn, and is tied on the side.

Gorgeous Japanese vintage artificial silk obi belt taken from an unused bolt of vintage 1960/70s kimono fabric. The belt is embroidered with striking golden lurex embroideries which are very harmonious with the design of the material. Obi belts are figure-flattering as they cinch you in at the waist creating a very feminine hour-glass figure.

The obi belt is an original design that crosses like butterfly wings in the back, with the tie underneath passing to the outside through an hidden side seam on the left. The base colour of the belt is sky blue.  The belt is interlined to make the front stiffened to avoid creasing and hold its shape.

Obi (帯, おび , literally "sash") is a sash for traditional Japanese dress, keikogi worn for Japanese martial arts and a part of kimono outfits.

Sashiko (刺し子?, literally "little stabs") is a form of decorative reinforced stitching(or functional embroidery) from Japan. Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches, this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery.
