Japanese Vintage Artificial Silk Kimono Obi Belt with Purple Butterfly Embroidery

butterfly obi 1

Gorgeous Japanese vintage artificial silk obi belt taken from an unused bolt of vintage 1960/70s kimono fabric. The belt is embroidered with striking purple, red and gold butterflies and gold and orange floral embroideries. Obi belts are figure-flattering as they cinch you in at the waist creating a very feminine hour-glass figure.

The obi belt is an original design that crosses like butterfly wings in the back, with the tie underneath passing to the outside through an hidden side seam on the left. The base colour of the belt is ivory. The fabric is called 'calico' and is decorated with the traditional patterns of bamboo, crysanthemums and plum blossoms in a printed version of the traditional Shibori tie dye. The embroideries are inspired by traditional kimono art. The belt is interlined to make the front stiffened to avoid creasing and hold its shape.

White camisole not included.

Obi (帯, おび , literally "sash") is a sash for traditional Japanese dress, keikogi worn for Japanese martial arts and a part of kimono outfits.

One Size.
